Behind every great man there is a great woman!  It is my honor to write an article featuring Zuri Mcdaniels, the wife of legendary rapper DMC of Run DMC.

In a time where the future of Hip Hop is in question, there are many on the frontlines who are pushing Hip Hop Humanity back into the forefront of this movement.  Zuri Mcdaniels is working on some amazing community based, humanitarian projects!  Focusing on inner city youth, Zuri and Darryl aka DMC, are in the process of establishing a non-profit organization known as “Hockey’s Mom United.”  One of Zuri’s visions is to provide a vast array of opportunities and activities for inner city youth that are not easily accessible.

Zuri and Darryl have been married for over 18 years but only recently did they discover that Darryl comes from an adopted family.  This news was shared on a documentary that featured Darryl called VH1 Docs.  I’m sure that this has influenced the Mcdaniels family to continue their work especially with inner city and foster care youth.

“Can’t stop. Won’t Stop!”  The projects don’t stop here, Zuri Mcdaniels has plans to embark on a Black women’s magazine and a reality TV show.  Word Up!  We here at Urban Crazes support all of Zuri Mcdaniels endeavors because it comes from a genuine drive to uplift the larger community.

There are many youth throughout this world that are in need of community support due to circumstances beyond their control.  Especially in a time of bleak economic crisis in America, it is a breath of fresh air to know that there are people just like Zuri Mcdaniels out there who truly care about making a positive difference.  Thank you Zuri Mcdaniels for embodying the African saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.”
